Gartner:In 2016 The Numeber of Global IOT Devices Will Grow 30 Percent to 6.4 Billion

Gartner, a market research firm, predicts that 64 million Internet of things (IOT) device will be used over the world in 2016, up 30 percent than last year, then there will be 5.5 million devices networked daily. Consumer networking hardware and application related market size should be able to reach $546 billion in 2016, and the field of enterprise networking spending is $868 billion. Gartner Vice President Jim Tully said the number of networked devices installation is the consumer side win, but the spending is the enterprise client application win.
In the application of Internet of things on enterprise side, cross-industry devices include networking bulb, HVAC, building management system and so on, the purpose of deploying these devices is to save costs, and device of vertical industry refers to the special equipment in the hospital operation room, or cargo tracking device, etc.
Tully said special networking devices is currently the largest category of enterprise applications, however, with the increase in the amount of universal device, the situation will be rapid change, by 2020, the cross industry networking device will dominate enterprise application.
In addition to the installation of the Internet of things devices, Gartner also estimated that the IoT services spending will up to $235 billion in 2016, the largest part of the IOT services will be professional category, such as enterprise outsourcing design, installation or operation of IOT system, but the pace of the networking services and consumer services will be even larger. Tully pointed out that IOT service is the real driving force of the value of IOT, while the new services offered by terminal consumer organizations and practitioners will be more and more attention.
